Join Licensed Dynamic Emotional Integration® Trainer and Consultant, Anchen Texter, for an interactive four-week online training about the anger family of emotions. This course covers core concepts essential to understanding how emotions work, and delves into the inner workings of anger so that you will come away with a deeper understanding and ability to work with this essential and powerful emotion.

What You’ll Learn:

  • What emotions are, how they work in your body, and effective skills and practices to help you work with them instead of against them.
  • What anger is and how it works, as well as anger’s gifts and benefits.
  • The power of having strong boundaries and working with anger in a conscious, empathic way through experiential exercises, personal practices, and live discussions.
  • How working with anger can help you to set boundaries in every area of your life, and set the foundation for working consciously with your other emotions.
  • The difference between expressing and repressing anger, and the middle way of channeling anger so that it protects you without harming others.
  • The importance of being comfortable in your skin; learning about how boundaries work, what they do, how to recognize them, and how to set them in empathic ways.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why would someone want to befriend their anger?

A: If your anger has been a source of fear, anxiety, or panic, then it might feel as scary as a wild animal. However, your anger is an emotion that resides within you, and getting to know it can help you understand that your anger is not wild, it’s there to protect you and your values in an honorable way. When you do have an understanding of the messages in anger, and practices to help you regulate your emotions, then you can access the information in your anger and act according to your values.

Q: How has befriending anger changed your life?

A: Working consciously with my anger has made me a better communicator, a stronger advocate for myself and for the people and values I hold dear, and better able to care for my needs. In the past I used boundary-breaking sarcasm and passive-aggressive communication to indirectly set boundaries. Now that I’m aware of what’s really important to me, and have practices like defining boundaries to help me work with my anger, I know how to act in according to my values.

Q: Why did you create this course?

A: I created Befriending Anger because I recognized the giant hole in my own life where my anger should’ve been before I became a DEI Trainer. I saw how my coping mechanisms for working without anger took so much of my time and energy and left me feeling resentful, when I could’ve been welcoming the information, energy, and action of my anger. I wanted to provide a light in the darkness to those who also made the monumental decision to befriend their anger, and to help them access the beauty, power, and grace within their anger.

Q: Who would benefit from this course?

A: If you are a people pleaser or can’t say no to others, or if you set inflexible rules or have angry outbursts, and you want a change, then you may be ready to befriend your anger. If you want to learn how to communicate clearly and respectfully from your core values, to stand up for yourself and what you believe in, or if you’re ready to stop running away from your anger, then this course is for you. You’ll learn practices and concepts to help you understand that anger is your ally, and expand your library of emotional experiences through hearing from other students on the Forum and in the webinar.

Q: What skills can I expect to learn in this course?

A: In this course, you’ll learn how to get grounded and define your boundary, as well as the mini-ritual of Burning Contracts. Many other practices are included in the curriculum for you to learn as your interest and time allows. In the webinars you’ll learn about your emotions through a combination of experiential practices and guided discussion that expand on the curriculum.
